Day 1: Arrive Cusco and transfer to your accommodation

A representative from the School will be waiting for you upon arrival in Cusco at the airport or bus station.  They will take you to your accommodation and introduce you to your host family, or help you check-in to the Student Residence.  In some cases your host family will pick you up from the airport themselves.  Spend the night at your chosen accommodation.

Day 2: First day of School

On the first day of classes, your host family will take you to the school or tell you how to get there using public transport.  After a written and oral placement test you will have a practical City Tour of Cusco with all other new students.  A representative of the School will explain how to get around the City, how to use public transport, where to find important places and tell you about the history of Cusco.

In the afternoon all new students participate in an orientation session.  You will be placed in a class and your teachers will explain the schedules, rules for living with host families, optional cultural activities and weekend trips.   You will also be given information about safety in Peru and how to make the most of your time in the City.

Days 3-6: Spanish Language Classes

The classes consist of highly structured grammar lessons, interactive activities, conversation and written exercises. Specific homework assignments are given daily and you will have a test at the end of the week to measure your progress.  Schedules vary according to class programming.  The schedule below is given as an example only:

A Typical Day at School

8:30-10:30am: Classes and lectures – Practice grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension and written expression.

10:30-11am: Break

11am-1pm: Classes and lectures – Practice oral comprehension and expression in discussions, role plays, games, etc.

1-2pm: Time for Lunch – Relax with your friends and get your lunch at one of the many local restaurants near the school, or head home to eat with your host family.

2-5pm: Optional activities - Explore the City and its surroundings on one of the many cultural excursions visiting local sights, museums or markets, or just spend some time with your new friends.

7pm: Dinner with your host family – Practice your Spanish in a relaxed, homely atmosphere and get to know Peruvian culture first-hand from conversations with your host family.  Or if you had lunch with your family, enjoy a meal out at one of Cusco’s many fine restaurants.

Housing is provided with local host families so you experience full immersion in the Spanish language.  Your host family provides you with a warm home away from home and the chance to get to know Peruvian local customs and culture.

At the homestay you have a private bedroom and are provided with half board (either breakfast and dinner or breakfast and lunch depending on your class schedules). There are also host families who accommodate couples or families with children.

If you prefer independent accommodation, then you can stay at a Student Residence directly on the school campus. You are accommodated in a single or double room and can use the shared fully equipped kitchen to prepare your own meals.
